From the magazine

“Le Maschere – The Face” is the name of a superb exhibition by Agostino Dessì from Florence. The exhibition includes some sixty different masks, the techniques of which date back to the 18th century.

“The masks conceal, but they also reveal. Under the mask there is a different face: the entire colourful range of human traits.”

The feature tells the friendship between two artists who trained together: the Sardinian Agostino Dessì and the Finnish Hannu Siren, fellow students at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence.

A year earlier, in February 1993, Agostino had held a course on papier-mâché masks at the Helsinki Fine Art Academy with Prof. Hannu Siren.
